What does it mean to love someone unconditionally? Is it better to be loved unconditionally?

Q. If a person is loved regardless of their actions, beliefs, attributes, and conditions, can that love not simply have gone to someone different? Is it not a greater honor to be loved for who you are? Is it better to have your love at risk than to love, unconditionally, recklessly, and randomly?

A. I love my boyfriend unconditionally. That means: I love him for who he is and the decisions he makes, the things he does, how he grows and who he becomes. It doesn't mean I can love anyone. It means I love him and respect his views, his attributes and personality. Unconditionally means I wont walk out on him for dumb reasons. It means I'll listen to what he says and if we have problems I'll try to work it out. It means I won't hurt him or hurt his feelings. It means i won't leave him for any dumb reason. It means I dont want to leave him. It means I can tell him anything and listen to anything he says. It means he's the love of my life, my soulmate and I'll stick with him no matter what. It means he's an amazing little dude and I know him well enough to know I dont want to love anyone else but him :)

How has your love for others made you a better person?
Q. Some people can pick and choose who they love; they seek a balance or a rewarding experience for both paties.
Some people appear to express agape; they try to love everybody in some way, though that's often impossible.
Some people are narcissistic; they cannot love anyone as much as they love themselves.

In what way(s) has your love for others (or lack of it) given you a sense of self-worth?

A. My love for others has helped me get through life. I can't hate people for some reason. I just wasn't made to hate them I guess. It helps me get through life letting people know I love them and care. I don't think it is impossible to love everyone in some way. I'm pretty sure I can love everyone in some way.

My dad which has never been there for him I love him more than ever, because I found out that my mother kept me away from him which I love her as well, because she raised me right. She has taken my daughter from me, but I still love her. Okay if you knew every person in my life you could ask me why I love every one of them.

In what way(s) has your love for others (or lack of it) given you a sense of self-worth?

A. One of the biggest things that loving others has taught me was a sense of selflessness. Just like when you love your job or an activity you put everything into and you go really hard the whole time. For me that same thing happens when I truly love someone. I am totally selfless and I put my all into a person so that I can have the best outcome possible. Having different experiences where I step outside of the usually selfish person that I am and I am able to give more than I usually do has allowed me to see how much I can do and all that I can attain if I am dedicated and devoted to something or someone.

Female Orgasm To Oral Sex; 9 Surprising Things Science Taught Us About Our Sex Lives In 2016

We're constantly reminded of sex, whether by a sultry magazine cover at the newsstand, a steamy scene at the movies, or a night at the bar. Science got its hands dirty this past year trying to unravel the latest patterns and trends in the field of sex research, a popular and often controversial area of interest. Here's what we learned.

Sex: Why It Feels So Good

Many people will admit they love sex because it feels so good. It’s a source of pleasurable sensations that facilitate an emotional connection between two people, but science has found it’s also an altered state of consciousness. A study in Socioaffective Neuroscience & Psychology found sexual pleasure floods the brain with a surge of neurochemicals â€" chemical messengers that forge emotions, feelings of attachment, and even love. The level of pleasure that’s felt is linked to the release of chemicals, which can be used to measure the intensity of an orgasm.

We discovered that if sexual stimulation is intense enough, and goes on long enough, synchronized activity could spread throughout the brain. This intense focused attention outcompetes usual self-awareness for access to consciousness, and so produces a state of sensory absorption and trance.

So, how long should this euphoric-like state last?

In an article for The Conversationalist, Dr. Brendan Zietsch, a psychologist from the University of Queensland, focused on how long heterosexual couples report penetrative sex actually lasts. The findings revealed the average time for each couple, across all the times they had sex, ranged from 33 seconds to 44 minutes. Meanwhile, the average across all couples was 5.4 minutes. This means a couple will typically go for an average of 5.4 minutes every time they have sex. Zietsch suspects penis shape could influence how long men last in bed.

Who's Getting It On Vs. Who’s Not

Sexless Millennials

Dating apps like Tinder, frequently used by Millennials, have led casual sex to become more common. Naturally, we would assume Millennials are having more sex, but a study in Archives of Sexual Behavior found more young people are living sexless lives than their counterparts born in the 1960s did at the same age. However, this does not mean a vast majority of young Millennials are having less sex than previous generations. It just means that the amount of people born in the early 1990s who are not having sex is larger than a similar cohort from previous years.

Sex In The “Golden” Years

Many believe once you get older, the sex becomes less and less frequent until it comes to a halt. This year, researchers have noted older adults are having more sex, and they agree it does get better with age. A survey conducted by the University of Guelph and the Sex Information and Education Council of Canada (SIECCAN) found older couples are starting to be active and get creative by adopting new positions and activities.  People over 40 are still having sex, and becoming more adventurous in bed with more than half admitting they were more interested in trying new things to boost pleasure than they were a decade ago.

The elderly also continue to be sexually active, and consider sex essential to their well-being, happiness, and overall quality of life, especially after retirement. Some older adults abstain from sex due to health conditions, or loss of interest, but others refused to renounce it.

The concept of sex is pretty straight forward, but when it comes to the female orgasm, science is still figuring out one of the greatest mysteries.

Women And Sex

The Female Orgasm: Hot Spots Of Pleasure

New research pinpoints there's a new understanding of the female orgasm: It incorporates the external clitoral glands, the internal region around the G-spot that corresponds to the internal clitoral bulbs, the cervix, and the sensory stimulation of non-genital areas, such as the nipples. In other words, it’s the stimulation of one or various erogenous zones that induces pleasure and orgasm during masturbation and sexual intercourse.

Researchers believe orgasms don't have to come from one site, nor from all sites, and most importantly, they don't have to be the same for every woman, nor for every sexual experience the woman has to be considered whole and valid. Orgasms are a very individual and subjective experience.

Female Orgasm Can Boost Fertility

Evolutionary biologists have debated the purpose of the female orgasm beyond just sexual pleasure. A study found orgasms could potentially boost fertility by as much as 15 percent. It performs some sort of “sperm-retention function,” meaning it could act as a suction to “suck up” semen into the vaginal canal. However, there are conflicting studies that debate whether the female orgasm has a biological purpose.

Women Receive Less Oral Sex

Not all is fair in love and oral sex. A study in The Canadian Journal of Human Sexuality found women are more than twice as likely to go down on their partners than men, but they are less likely to enjoy performing the act. The biggest gender difference in oral sex was the enjoyment of giving oral. More than half of men who had given cunnilingus reported enjoying it a lot, while an additional 41 percent enjoyed it somewhat, and 7 percent didn't enjoy it much or at all. Contrastingly, only 28 percent of the women who gave fellatio found it very pleasurable; for 55 it was somewhat pleasurable; and 17 percent didn't enjoy doing it. The findings suggest equal reciprocation could satisfy both partners.

Sex In Relationships

Good Sex In Long-Term Relationships

Couples often get into a rut about sex being boring and predictable, but great sex is possible in long-term relationships. A recent study in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology found long-term couples can reignite the spark, and have better sex, by being responsive to each other. Partners who are responsive to each other outside the bedroom are able to maintain their sexual desire.

More Sex Leads To Positive Feelings About Partners

Unsurprisingly, the more sex we have with our partners, the more likely we’ll begin to have more positive feelings towards them. A study from Florida State University found the frequency with which couples have sex has no influence on whether or not they report being happy with their relationship, but their sexual frequency does influence their more spontaneous, automatic, gut-level feelings about their partners. Whether sex is happening once a month or once every few hours, it’s really about quality over quantity.

In 2016, science has taught us there are shades of grey when it comes to sex â€" it’s not as concrete or simple as we believe.

What is the difference between love and like?

Q. Love for me is loving a person with commitment and like means just being happy seeing the one you adore. How about you?

A. Ann Landers wrote this column many years ago and it answers you question.

Is It Love or Infatuation?

Infatuation is fleeting desire -- one set of glands calling to another. It is marked by a feeling of insecurity. You are excited and eager but not genuinely happy. There are nagging doubts, unanswered questions, little bits and pieces about the relationship that you would just as soon not examine too closely. It might spoil the dream.

Love is friendship that has caught fire. It takes root and grows, one day at a time. Love is quiet understanding and mature acceptance of imperfection. It is real. It gives you strength and grows beyond you -- to bolster your beloved. You are warmed by his presence, even when he is away. Miles do not separate you. You have so many wonderful films in your head that you keep replaying. But near or far, you know he is yours, and you can wait.

Infatuation says, "We must get married right away. I can't risk losing him." Love says, "Be patient. Don't panic. Plan your future with confidence."

Infatuation has an element of sexual excitement. Whenever you are together, you hope it will end in intimacy.

Love is not based on sex. It is the maturation of friendship that makes sex so much sweeter. You must be friends before you can be lovers.

Infatuation lacks confidence. When he's away, you wonder if he's being unfaithful. Sometimes, you check.

Love means trust. You are calm, secure and unthreatened. He feels your trust, and it makes him even more trustworthy.

Infatuation might lead you to do things you will regret, but love never steers you in the wrong direction.

Love is elevating. It lifts you up. It makes you look up. It makes you better than you were before.

How is love and sacrifice represented in Pride and Prejudice?
Q. What is the impact of love and sacrifice on the main characters? What is the author the Pride and Prejudice suggesting about love and sacrifice?
What would be a good thesis statement for these questions?

A. A basic theme of the story, one could argue, is that love conquers all. Thinking about it in terms of that particular society, Darcy and Elizabeth shouldn't have ended up together. He was well off, she was poor. He was upper class, had family connections, and was high up in society. She had no connections, had a family full of "silly" sisters and parents, and wasn't too much in the company of high society. But, despite all the odds against them- family, wealth, their individual pride and prejudices, they ended up together. And why? Because they fought for each other. They fought for a true love that they both deserved.

Darcy sacrifices his pride by paying for Lydia's shotgun wedding with Wickham. Though he despises the man, he patches up the marriage in order to protect Lydia, which ultimately protects Elizabeth, because then her family isn't tainted with the scandal. We think Darcy has overcome his pride when he first proposes to Elizabeth, but he hasn't done that completely yet: he tells her, rather condescendingly, that he wishes he didn't like her because it's imprudent for a man of his connection to love someone so beneath him. Ouch, can you say mean much?

Elizabeth, on the other hand, gets the benefit of this match in its social and financial aspects. You'd think she doesn't give up much, but she does. She too sacrifices her pride, admitting that her first impressions of Mr. Darcy were very wrong, and that he was a much better man than she gave him credit for. She also admits to falling under Wickham's spell and feels bad that she fell for his facade.

That's what I have to say on it, really. Hope it helps.

What's the difference between loving someone and being in love with somone?
Q. OK...If I love someone who I am also intimate with--does that make me IN love?...I just do not understand what "being in love" really means.

A. hello and i am the Love Doctor.
I am here to help you answer your question and if you have any questions abut love, everhbody can email me at young95fm@yahoo.com.

Ok, let's see, if you really love someone and you feel very intimate with the person, it is just a sudden spark that you feel, it does not really mean that you are in love.
When you truly love someone, you will put aside all defects and on the person, body odour, looks, size etc. You will feel your heart thumping really very fast and you feel shy talking to the person until you know the person also loves/likes you.
When you are intimate with that person, it would most probably mean that you are in probationary love, which means you are putting your heart to a test, to see if the two of you match, when you really are a match, that thumping feeling will start to slow down everytime you see her/him. This is normal because you are not nervous that she despises you or anything, but it is also normal is your heart is still thumping very fast, because are afraid that you will suddenly lose interest in her/him, or that he/she will lose interest in you due to your sudden change like your behaviour towards him/her.

If you still don't know or have any other problems about your love, or of how you should keep your love from losing interest in you, you can contact me personally through my email at the top of this answer and we can chat through my MSN.

How many days should I have sex after a positive ovulation test?

Q. Hello,
I had sex on 7/12. I got a positive ovulation test on 7/13. We had sex on 7/13 and 7/14 and will have sex today. Do you think that I have a good chance?

A. Sounds like you have timed it all very well.
If this cycle isn't successful then next month you can try and just have sex every second day and not test for Ovulation so you never feel 'pressured' while your TTC.

Having sex everyday does make the sperm not as strong for the long journey they have ahead of them to the F/T. Males produce more sperm everytime they ejaculate. They should ideally have about 36hours to let the sperm grow big and strong for the journey so sometimes it is better to have sex every 48 hours not every 24 hours. Because you want the sperm to be as strong as possible so you have a better chance of getting pregnant.

How do you write a good sex scene and what are some examples of good sex scenes?
Q. I'm trying to write a sex scene (obviously, from the question). I'm not sure how to write a good one and as I plan on having someone else read it, I want it to be...good. I've heard that you should write what you know, but I've never had sex so I can't really do that.
Also, some examples of good sex scenes would be nice. Links or whatever. I'm planning on mine being female dominant, if that information helps.

A. The scene in Mad Men where Betty Draper has sex with the washing machine.. that was some serious action.

How important is sex in your relationship?
Q. I've seen a lot of people remark that sex has zero importance in a relationship but I just don't see it. I like sex and it's a must for me. It's a stress reliever and a way to be connected to someone physically. How could anyone say that's not important.

So I ask you, how important is it to your relationship?

A. Sex is very important.

Sex when you're not in a relationship is fun.

Sex when you're in a relationship is fun, connecting and bonding on a deeper level. Sex with someone you love is always the best sex.

When will Jens Lapidus' Never Fuck Up and Life Deluxe be translated?
Q. I just finished easy money and im confused as to the situation on the next two books. Never fuck up is on amazon, but for some reason it wont be released until June 18th. Life Deluxe is also on amazon but has no release date. To further complicate, itunes seems to be selling them right now. I am confused. There is no wikipedia page that will answer my question. Fucking swedes.

A. Jens Lapidus said on his Facebook page at the end of April that he did not know the release dates for the books in English. I do notice that book two is already available in some other languages although book three is not.

I am assuming the Amazon date for book two is correct (although there are other dates being quoted - the book appears to be coming out in an English and an American edition). There appears to be no confirmed dates of any description for the third book.

Now, iTunes looks to be misleading. They can sell you the book in languages other than English - but the English version is listed as not being released until 18th June.

I realise that I am really just confirming what you already know - that's because there isn't any other information.

What's the difference between loving your boyfriend but not being in love with your boyfriend?
Q. I know you can love your family and friends but not in a "couple' way. But how can you know when you actually love your husband/boyfriend, but not really inlove with him?

Should you marry someone if you love them but not in love with them? Can it work?

A. I wouldn't marry someone if I loved them in a brotherly way. Marriage is a sacred thing and if the person doesn't feel right then don't go through with it. If you were in love with someone, it could def. come back again if you work at it.

How does one avoid sex when starting off a long term relationship?

Q. I have a boyfriend. He likes sex and I like sex. However, we want the relationship to be long term and if we engage in sex I have a fear that things will be different between us.

A. Speaking as a man, I will tell you that you are very smart to not "give it up" so easily. If you want a man to really, really love you, portraying yourself as "easy" almost certainly guarantees that any good man will pass over you, and the men who are interested in you would just be interested for the sex. When they reach the point in their life where they want a real girlfriend, or to think about getting married, it won't be with you.

In fact, when I was single, my biggest concern was not to meet a woman, but to NOT meet a sh*tty woman. When I did meet a woman that I was interested in, I always asked the all-important questions, such as what they did for a living, what their goals were, what they like to do for fun, and if they had any children. If I didn't like what I heard, then goodbye. Also, there were women that I met, and they wanted to "hook up" that same night, or women that I dated a few times, and they already wanted sex. And of course I said no way (and did not have sex with them).

Screening out all the losers worked very well for me, because I did not have a "real" girlfriend until I was 27 years old, and now I am 30 and we are married, and I am much happier than my friends and co-workers who had many girlfriends and years (decades?) of casual sex.

One of the reasons why I love my wife so much, and decided to get married with her is because when we were boyfriend and girlfriend, we did everything in steps, to make sure we really love each other. After we were together for more than 4 months and knew that we really loved each other, then we started to have a sexual relationship.

So in summary, don't be "easy", or else the man will never take you seriously. Especially if he is a man that has been with many women in his lifetime.

How soon after having sex will you start to get morning sickness?
Q. Yesterday, I had unprotected sex and today I threw up without feeling sick like, at all. I'm just wondering, is it possible that this is morning sickness? or is it too soon after sex to be morning sickness?

A. Morning sickness generally doesn't set in until you are between 7-9 weeks pregnant... Some get it sooner, some get it later, some never get it at all, but on average, it takes quite some time before you get the classic pregnancy symptoms such as morning sickness.

It's not possible for you to have any symptoms if you just had sex yesterday b/c you're not even pregnant yet. It takes 2-3 days for the sperm to even FIND the egg and then 6-12 days for the egg to implant into the uterus and start producing the hormones that cause symptoms.

So you're just stressing out for no reason.

How do the love calculators on the internet actually work?

Q. The love calculators all have different calculations. How do they work?

A. They work by performing advanced calculations based on a comparison of user input to known love standards. The reason they all have different calculations is that several renowned authorities have each proposed their own set of love standards.

For instance love calculators based on Alexander Nestor's popular treatise "What is love?", base their calculations on the apparent force of the user's input, as Nestor's theory largely purports that love causes or is capable of causing pain. This method of love calculation is typically referred to as "The H.A.D.D.A.W.A.Y. Method".

Bad Sex in Fiction Awards ceremony celebrates 24th year

“It’s terribly British, isn’t it,” said the man next to me at last night’s Bad Sex in Fiction Awards ceremony at the (appropriately named) In and Out Club in St James’s. He was referring, of course, to the yearly bash â€" now in its 24th year â€" in which the Literary Review magazine nominates half a dozen passages from contemporary fiction seen to represent sex at its most cringeworthy, reads them out to champagne-infused guffaws, and then awards a prize to the author of the worst.

It is a terribly British event, but it also provides a snarky satisfaction that transcends nationality. Because for anyone with the sneaking suspicion that the sexual act is better done or seen than artistically described â€" that its complex idiosyncrasy is one of the few things that lie outside the remit of the otherwise resourceful English language â€" the Bad Sex Awards hits its mark.

Yet as the entrants this year make clear, writing about sex with flagrant abominableness is still cheerily far from going out of fashion. Hearty examples were a passage from Blue Peter presenter Janet Ellis’s The Butcher’s Hook:

When his hand goes to my breasts, my feet are envious. I slide my hands down his back, all along his spine, rutted with bone like mud ridges in a dry field, to the audacious swell below.

“Audacious swell”? Quite.

Then there was the American Gayle Forman’s entry, from Leave Me:

They were in that room, Jason had slammed the door and devoured her with his mouth, his hands, which were everywhere. As if he were ravenous. And she remembered standing in front of him, her dress a puddle on the floor, and how she’d started to shake, her knees knocking together, like she was a virgin, like this was the first time.

But the gong went to the Italian poet and translator Erri De Luca for The Day Before Happiness (de Luca understandably wasn’t present). “My prick was a plank stuck to her stomach,” the Neapolitan was justly rebuked for writing:

With a swerve of her hips, she turned me over and I was on top of her … I was her plaything, which she moved around. Our sexes were ready, poised in expectation, barely touching each other: ballet dancers hovering en pointe.

Not everyone felt this deserved the award â€" as an American woman nearby remarked to me, this could clearly be read as satire, plain and simple. Perhaps, but satire doesn’t necessarily get you home dry, especially when it’s ambiguous. After all, the book, a coming of age story, is not particularly comic in the way that, for instance, the early sex-mad tomes of Philip Roth and Martin Amis were.

In fact, the awards were conceived not to discourage writing about sex, but to discourage writing about sex badly. The wording of the original mission statement in 1993 by Auberon Waugh, then editor of the Literary Review, is revealing: the bash was to “draw attention to poorly written, perfunctory or redundant passages of sexual description in modern fiction”.

It would be helpful to have some guidance on what non-redundant, good sex writing looks like, since it’s not entirely clear whether it can exist in a literary form at all. After all, the most sexually charged novels of the last 100 or so years use the rule of thumb that the act is unmentionable, boring, or best only suggested.

The novels of Dickens, Eliot and Trollope are full of sexual yearning, and their emotional and erotic pull are none the worse for the veiled references to kissing and love. Even in 20th century novels with subject matter devoted to romantic entanglements, the sexual act is not necessarily spelled out or even mentioned â€" Iris Murdoch doesn’t go further than “making love” as an account of the nocturnal activities of her highly sexually charged couple Dora and Paul in The Bell (1958).

And while Margaret Drabble’s super-sexy characters Clara and Gabriel get pretty steamy in Jerusalem the Golden, nothing beyond the fact is spelled out. It’s a blessed relief which does nothing to diminish the profoundly saucy atmosphere of the book.

The awards are also a humorous reminder not just of the imaginative power but also of the literary value of discipline and restraint in matters of bonking. A recent book about prime minster Herbert Asquith’s passionate attachment to Venetia Stanley tells of his thousands of letters to her, all passionately headed with variants of “my own darling” and “darlingest”.

Asquith’s desperate fixation with Stanley pours out from every page, but had he indulged in anything more sexually explicit than the desire to “go for a little drive, or will you come to Downing St & have a talk”, it would hardly have helped, and probably only hindered, the accumulated intensity of his fixation. Voluble lusters: take note.
